Internet Explorer 10 browser or familiarly called Microsoft's IE 10 browser is claimed to be the most efficient in terms of power consumption or the most efficient in terms of power consumption. This claim comes from the Center for Sustainable Energy Systems based on Fraunhofer, USA.
Microsoft said that Internet Explorer 10 is consuming 18% less power compared to its competitors browser, such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Therefore, Microsoft recommends that users of Chrome and Firefox in the U.S. to switch to using Internet Explorer 10 that the energy savings equivalent power consumption of 10,000 households.
Testing power consumption is done by using the browser to open various content-based websites such as video displays and flash-based HTML5 pages. Based on these test results, the browser Internet Explorer 10 is seen to consume less power than Chrome and Firefox which is two closest competitors.
When opening the flash-based video content, there is a difference or gap between the power consumption of Internet Explorer 10 at Chrome up to 6 watts and each test, Internet Explorer 10 looks most low power consumption compared to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Lower power consumption and lower resource usage by Internet Explorer 10 is quite reasonable, considering the browser is a browser-native or "natural" of Windows 8, so it should be able to produce something better. In contrast to Chrome and Firefox which is a third-party browser.
As reported by Slash gear (07/06/2013), although the browser Internet Explorer 10 is more energy efficient, but many users that Chrome and Firefox are reluctant to switch to using Microsoft's browser, why? Many considered that Chrome and Firefox have compatibility and higher performance than Internet Explorer 10.
