Fluctuations in the value of the rupiah against the U.S. dollar gave a significant impact on the electronics business especially computers. Lenovo, one of the market leader in Asia plan to raise the price 20% more expensive in all of its product lines.
Ranging from notebooks, desktop computers, to smartphones and tablet Lenovo will naturally price adjustment. Not only Lenovo, increasing the value of the dollar also impact on many multinational companies doing business in Indonesia.
Sandy Lumy, Chief Operating Officer of Lenovo Indonesia said in Seconds if Lenovo does have a plan to raise prices between 10% to 20%. But he was reluctant to give price adjustments leaks when it came into effect.
There is a possibility Lenovo still cautious policy to do it. They will monitor the market before the policy apply regrettably.
Current, according to data from Bank Indonesia, the value of the dollar against the rupiah touched Rp 11,549 per 1 USD. The data per Wednesday, September 18, 2013.
In August, a laptop shop owners in Central Jakarta Glodok Market said if the price increases 'portable computer' it jumped between 10% to 20%. The increase is even been started since the rupiah weakened in the previous weeks.
