Expired food 'can be consumed'

eggs
Many people throw eggs faster than it should.
Some foods can be consumed, although it is still listed on the packaging stating the date the product has expired.

A number of provisions of the expiration date does not directly impact on food safety, but the taste of the food product, said Dana Gunders, food scientist from the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC), which issued a report that most of the food that has claimed it is still safe to eat expired.
In the United States alone about 40% of the food had to be discarded, mostly because of the use of such a confusing date labels "used to", "sold to" and "can be enjoyed on".
In response to this at the beginning of next year an American businessman Doug Rauch will open a supermarket and restaurants selling expired food is still worth eating.
What are some foods that are still worth eating it? Include the following:
Chips tortilla will not make the pain after one month (expired), Gunders said, although it may begin to feel stale.
Gunders suggested that chips cooked back in the toaster with guaranteed results back oil and crispy. Store in a sealed container to extend the consumption of such foods, added Gunders.
He also said that yogurt may last more than six weeks and he often ate. "I eat yogurt for months past the expiration date, (but) I've never had a problem."
ClickChocolate can also last a long time, he said. However, the common brown brown white coating when exposed to open air.
This happens because the fat that has been melted and crystallized rose to the top. That's not a mushroom, he said, and safe to eat.
Gunders also said most people throw eggs much earlier than it should.Though eggs can last three to five weeks.
Store eggs at temperatures below 5C because it can help prevent the growth of bacteria Salmonella Enteritidis, said Ted Labuza, professor of food science at the University of Minnesota.
Click theMilk will smell the stench away before it could make you sick, Labuza says.
He suggested the milk container placed at room temperature because the microbes in the air will spoil milk - shut it down quickly and return to the refrigerator at a temperature of about 2C will help extend the life of milk.
