Motive for the shooting is performed by Alexis still unclear.
A gunman who died after killing 12 people in the United States, has been identified as a former naval officer.
Aaron Alexis, 34, of Fort Worth, Texas, died in a shootout with police in a naval complex in Washington DC.
About 12 people were wounded in the incident, which started on Monday (16/09) Clickat 8:20 am local time .
President Barack Obama ordered the White House and Capitol Hill put the flag at half-mast. He said sorry to the "mass shootings happen again" and condemned the action as a "cowardly act".
Alexis was a former officer in charge of the low class 3 full-time in 2007 to 2011, said Navy ClickUSA.
Unclear why he left the military, or how he gained access to the facility.Also not known motive for the attack.
A U.S. Navy official told Reuters that Alexis was issued after a series of acts of "offense".
Still pursued
A total of 12 people became victims of the shootings.
U.S. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus told CNN that Alexis is a contract employee in the information technology.
Witnesses said the perpetrators opened fire in the direction of employees in the cafeteria and in the hallways of buildings.
Washington DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier told reporters that the actor "exchanged gunfire with police" when he was killed.
"No doubt, he will continue to shoot," he said.
Police initially responded to reports of two armed suspects the other, but they quickly ruled out one of them, identified as a white male.
They say they are still looking for someone who is described by witnesses as a black male, 40-50 years old who brought "long rifle".
