Indonesian Children 'Vulnerable' Cyber Sex Predators

Social media opens the door to so-called child sex fans.

Indonesian children are very vulnerable to cyber sex predators hunted, said the international foundation in the field of child protection Terre des Hommes.



The statement related to reports that they released recently that they found 1,000 sexual predators in 71 countries around the world.
Among that number, there are three sexual enthusiasts children residing in Indonesia.
Country manager of Terre des Hommes Netherlands, Sudaryanto, says the number is not exactly small.
"A third of commercial sex workers in Indonesia was under 18 years old," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday (07/11).
Sudaryanto also said cases of violence against children in Indonesia tends to increase. He gave an example when in 2005 Indonesia was ranked seventh in the world and in 2009 Indonesia was ranked third.

Information technology observers, Enda Nasution, said the potential captivated children become victims of sexual predators increasingly large with increasing usage of social media.
"The potential is quite large and this time we have not seen the real dangers that might happen, which often get in the media was right there 'abduction' by unknown people through Facebook," said Enda Nasution.
Public Relations of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Gatot Dewabroto, said it has blocked more than one million, mostly internet sites containing pornographic material.
"The period of August 2010 to 2012 has Agustus there are a million sites that we can see in Indonesia," said Gatot Dewabroto the BBC Indonesia.com.
Most of the sites that are outside Indonesia. But he does not mention in detail how the site is targeting under-age victims.
