Afghan female police shot dead

Assault against women who become public officials often happens in Afghanistan.
An Afghan female police officer died after being shot by an unknown person in Helmand Province.
Negar lieutenant who was undergoing treatment at the hospital, was shot while not far from police headquarters is located in Lashkar Gar, Helmand.
This attack only a month ago after his predecessor, Lieutenant Islam Bibi was also shot dead.
Lieutenant Bibi is one of the leaders who set an example for women in this conservative region.
He was shot in July while to work.
The number of female police officers in Afghanistan only about 1,600 people or under one percent of the total members of police in the country.

Many risks

Police women in Afghanistan has been facing a higher risk because it gets a lot of threats and challenges.
Helmand provincial governor spokesman, Omar told AFP Zawak Negar gunman was killed after a bullet on his neck.
The report said the number of women who became a public figure in Afghanistan has become the target of attacks and kidnappings in recent months.
Earlier this month, the Taliban releases a female lawmaker after being held hostage for a month.
In August raiding party also had ambushed a convoy of vehicles carrying Afghan woman senator.

The attack resulted in the senator's seriously injured and killed a daughter who was nine years old.
