Son of football legend Pele was sentenced to 33 years in prison


Edinho become coach at Pele's old club, Santos.

Son of the legendary Brazilian footballer Pele was sentenced to 33 years in prison for laundering money obtained from drug trafficking.


Edinho is a former football player who was a goalkeeper Pele's old club, Santos, in the 1990s.

Now, 43 years old, he became goalkeeping coach at the club.

He was first detained in 2005 and serving a sentence for drug trade.

Edinho then admitted that he was an addict but denied accusations that he was a dealer.

Recent decision issued by a judge in San Paulo region.

Edinho are Pele third child from his first marriage. He was five years old when his family moved to New York.

News of his detention and alleged involvement with drug gangs Edinho surprised most people in Brazil.
