Nokia will lay off 4,000 employeesin Finland, Mexico, and Hungary as part of an effort to cut costs. The announcement was made Wednesday (8/2) when the mobilephone maker is trying to survive in the world smart phone market.
Four thousand employees is part of from about 7,000 employees around the world who will be laid off this year. Nokia said they moved the factory from Europe to Asia because most of your Nokia mobile phone component suppliersare from this continent.Yet the factory in Mexico, Hungary, and Finland, will not be closed. "All three of these plants will be devoted to making smart phones for the European and American markets," said Niklas Savander of Nokia marketing, told the Associated Press.
