Climate change is causing the expansion of Antarctic sea ice, according to scientific research in the journal Nature Geoscience.
This natural phenomenon is expected due to the melting of the ice beneath Antarctica.
Melting of water in low density that accumulate in the top layer of the ocean.
The sea surface is then freeze more easily during the fall and winter.
Climate experts observed that Antarctic sea ice shows a small but sufficient signikan expansion of about 1.9% in a decade since 1985.
Researchers from the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), said this phenomenon is expected to continue to occur in the future.
They try to make them change it back via computer.
Sea ice extends through the fall and winter in the southern hemisphere because of the melting water.
"Sea ice around Antarctica increased despite the existence of global warming," said one researcher Richard Bintanja of KNMI.
"This is due to the melting of the ice from below," he told Reuters news agency.
The study in Nature Geoscience also mention that melts the cold water layer can limit the amount of water absorbed from the sea and falls as snow in Antarctica.
