With this title, Indonesia became the fourth Southeast Asian countries which managed to become champion after previously achieved Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand.
Since first held in 2002, Australia and Thailand being the largest holders with each of the three time champions. Once each winner is Iran, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.
In this tournament, Indonesia has a poor record. In nine previous editions, the best achievement 'Red and White' just stuck to the group phase that occurred in 2002, 2005 and 2011.
