Wolfsburg, - Europe's largest automotive group, Volkswagen Group had eccentric ideas. Volkswagen is developing a new car that will use the ferocious engine of Ducati motorcycles.
As we all know Ducati is currently owned by Audi. And shelter under the umbrella of the Volkswagen Audi Group.
VW board chairman Ferdinand Piech said that if a new car is being developed.His body will be formulated based on the ultra-efficient Volkswagen XL1 but will be equipped with high-performance engine from Ducati Panigale Superbike.
The car is likely to be called XL Sport will be powered by a 1200 cc engine capable of developing 187 bhp power at 10,750 rpm and 91 lb-ft of torque at 9000rpm.
Ducati's engine will be mated to a twin-clutch transmission. Piech revealed that XL Sport will be lighter than the already light because the XL1 weighs 795 kg.
Piech revealed the eccentric plan when a speaker in a lecture at the Vienna University of Technology, where he became an honorary professor.
Not yet known when these unique cars will be born VW but this car will likely be used in the Volkswagen motorsport activities in the future. There is also the possibility that this car will be produced in limited quantities.
