Fernando Torres 'claw' face Tottenham Vertonghen
Association of English football, the FA, not to impose sanctions for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, who clawed face Tottenham Hotspur, Vertonghen.
FA issued a statement on Tuesday (01/10) states that one of the match officials witnessed the incident, though did not see the whole event from beginning to end.
"For this case, in line with the policy of retrospective FA, the FA will take no further action," the FA said in a statement.
Had the FA brought this case to record the independent panel, Torres could be sentenced to a maximum four-match ban down.
The Spanish striker was sent off by the referee after receiving two yellow cards and therefore prohibited down to one game.
In the case of 'scratches' face Vertonghen, Torres received a yellow card following an altercation with the Dutchman Torres is on the sidelines.
The second yellow card obtained when Torres dropped Vertonghen, who made Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, angry with the referee's decision and called Vertonghen "embarrassing" because of "malingering and lying on the ground".
Torres red card in the match against Tottenham, which ended with the score at 1-1, kept him in the game at home to Norwich, on Sunday (06/10).
