In Laos plane crash kills 44 people

Airline passenger plane owned by Lao Airlines crashed in southern Laos, near the border with Thailand.

Spokesman for the Thai Foreign Ministry, Sek Wannamethee, said all passengers and crew, numbering 44, were killed.
"It is true that based on the reports we received, 44 people were killed, including five Thai nationals," said Wannamethee.
Wannamethee passengers and crew explain the data obtained from the Thai embassy in the capital of Laos, Vientiane.
It is estimated there are Chinese nationals in the plane. AFP news agency meanwhile said the plane was also carrying French citizens.

Mekong River

The plane that took off from the capital Vientiane fell into the Mekong River while attempting a landing Daurat in Pakse airport in the middle of bad weather at 16.00 local time, said airline officials told media Thailand, The Bangkok Post.
On the Facebook page, Lao Airlines condolences to the families of the victims.
"There is no news of survivors so far," said Lao Airlines.
AFP reported, from the television show visible fuselage half submerged in the river.
These are often used foreign tourists. Some are saying Lao Airlines safety record is quite good.
