MI-17 helicopters used in the border region and for the purposes of the operation of natural disasters
MI-17 helicopters belong to the Army that is taking the need for construction of border posts logistics reportedly fell in Malinau region, North Borneo.
TNI (Indonesian State Army) spokesman Rear Admiral Iskandar Sitompul said the helicopter crashed at 10.45 Central Indonesian Time and killing 13 people in it.

Earlier in October, a MI-17 helicopter had to make an emergency landing at the nearby airport Okibab, Bintang Mountains regency, Papua. There were no casualties in the incident.
