President of European soccer, UEFA, Michel Platini, wants to increase the number of teams in the World Cup from 32 to 40 teams.
Platini put forward his proposal after FIFA president Sepp Blatter said the countries of Africa and Asia World Cup qualifying should be added while from Europe reduced.
"Instead of reducing the European team, we have to add to 40 teams in the World Cup," said Platini told The Times.
"We could add two African, two Asian, two Americans and one from Europe. I support this idea," he added.

Europe had 13 points for the current allocation, while Africa and Asia four plus five one place from the play-offs.
Platini with the idea for the 40 World Cup team, will join the national team divided into eight groups of five national teams. The current structure is the eight groups of four teams nationally.
This proposal can be applied in a tournament in Russia in 2018.
With this addition, Platini said, the World Cup will be extended by three days.
"Football has changed and now there are 209 associations," said Platini, who is expected to challenge Blatter in the FIFA presidential nomination in 2015.
"More and more countries, so why should be reduced?"
"The addition of three-day matches will make people happy," said Platini.
